Zara Wardrop will be known to many members of MiWK as one of our exceptional local talents. This gifted soprano’s repertoire ranges from opera to folk, and from sacred to secular. She has performed many roles at a wide range of venues and we are delighted that she will be performing on home territory.

Zara Wardrop is currently a postgraduate student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS). Prior to RCS, Zara completed her undergraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, achieving a first-class Bachelor of Music with Honours in Vocal Studies and Opera. Whilst studying there, Zara performed in the RNCM Opera productions of Massenet’s Cendrillon, Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, Puccini’s Suor Angelica and Vaughan William’s Pilgrim’s Progress. She also explored the art of song through the RNCM Songsters which included many external performances and masterclasses. Outside her studies, Zara is passionate about promoting the arts to young people and new audiences, which led her to set up the organisation Kickstart Opera.
Zara will be accompanied by guitarist Luke Anderson, who has been acquiring a considerable reputation in his own right. Hailing from Gourock, Luke is a graduate of The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Classical Guitar. He is an accomplished performer of several genres from heavy rock to solo classical.
