West Kilbride Village Hall 7.30 pm
We welcome one of the world’s leading viola performers, Milena Simović, accompanied by acclaimed pianist Anthony Hewitt.

Equally at home as a violinist and violist, Serbian Milena Simović is enjoying an illustrious international career of concerto, recital and chamber music performances. Acclaimed for her work in Europe, Asia and America, Milena has performed alongside some of the most established personalities of today’s music scene. Milena’s concerts have been broadcast live on BBC Radio 3, Medici TV, Rai Uno in Italy, and her performances praised as “…exceptionally delivered … charged with brilliant combination of operatic quality, which was jaw-dropping at times”, “seductive and exciting…with rare artistic sensibility”. Milena holds a professorship at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. Her performance will include works by Brahms, Clarke, Prokofiev – and the late British composer York Bowen, who wrote prolifically for the viola, which he considered to have a tonal quality superior to the violin.
Anthony Hewitt is regarded as one of Britain’s finest pianists, and since winning the prestigious William Kapell Competition in Washington D.C., has enjoyed a prolific career spanning two decades, including concerto appearances with the National Symphony Orchestra in the U.S.A. and in the U.K with the English Chamber and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras. He has recorded for several labels, and has performed at most of the UK’s major concerts halls, including concerto appearances at Royal Festival Hall in London and Symphony Hall in Birmingham, and frequent recitals at Wigmore Hall. Anthony enjoys a diverse musical life as piano tutor at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, as well as founder and director of the Ulverston International Music Festival
