Three Rivers Festival

We are delighted to hear from one of our sister organisations, the Haddington Concert Society, of a new Scottish chamber-music festival, the Three Rivers Festival (Music in the Heart of Scotland). This was set up last year by Catherine Duncan from Dunblane, a graduate of Birmingham Conservatoire currently studying at Guildhall. A fine pianist, she is passionate about chamber music and set up the festival both to bring it to a wide audience and to give performing opportunities to young musicians as they embark on careers after leaving conservatoires.

After a modest but very successful launch last summer, the second festival is fast approaching. As well as young musicians travelling up from London to play, the Bubblyjock Collective will premiere a song cycle commissioned by the festival. There will be performances by Benjamin Shute, the period violinist now based in St Andrews, and Paolo Vergari, a distinguished Italian concert pianist who is travelling over specially to play in the festival.
