Season 2026-27 Preview

We are excited to bring you a preview of our 2026-27 season, which we hope includes something for everyone, combining past favourites with new talent.

Our opening concert on 9th October 2026 features the Chloe Piano Trio, in which the brilliant Romanian pianist George Todică – who captivated us with his performance at the end of 2023 – makes a welcome return. Alongside him will be Romanian violinist Maria Gîlicel, who has performed as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestra member in various prestigious European venues; and BBC Music Magazine ‘Rising Star’ artist, Dutch cellist Jobine Siekman, who is quickly establishing her career as an exceptional chamber musician and soloist.

On November 27th 2026 we look forward to hosting Coro Alba, featuring eight top quality opera singers, with renowned accompanist Derek Clark on piano. The ensemble have a reputation for delighting audiences with their repertoire of favourite arias and songbook classics in what they describe as an “opera gala style event”.

Our musical new year starts on 15th January 2027 when we host a return visit from the Resol String Quartet. Many of you will recall their stunning performance of Shostakovich’s String Quartet in F Major a couple of seasons ago. Since their formation in 2018 at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland the Resol Quartet has developed a distinctive and energetic presence on the chamber music scene, including their 3-concert debut at the St Magnus International Festival in June 2025.

Tunnell Trust competition winners the CATIL Wind Quintet visit us on 19th February 2027. This London-based ensemble, all alumni of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, brings together five musicians from the UK, France and Hong Kong with a shared commitment to celebrate the richness of wind repertoire

In a concert reinforcing the richness of wind repertoire, brass enthusiasts in particular will delight in Brass Tracks on 12th March 2027. Formed in 2013 by Edinburgh trumpeters Finlay Hetherington and John Sampson, the ensemble’s members come from varied musical backgrounds including theatre, orchestral, chamber music and brass band. Their many interesting venues have included Glasgow Central Station (as part of Virgin Trains’ ‘Live at Central’ concert series), the Fife Sports Awards ceremony and Gateshead Metrocentre.

When we host a jazz evening, we always try to ensure it also appeals to wider musical tastes. On 16th April 2027 Seonaid Aitken (vocals, violin) and Conor Smith (guitar) present their inimitable tribute to French Jazz violin legend Stéphane Grappelli and queen of American jazz Ella Fitzgerald. Seonaid was awarded ‘Best Vocalist’ twice at the Scottish Jazz Awards, whilst Conor has recorded and performed with many household names such as Natasha Bedingfield, Corinne Bailey Rae, Deacon Blue and Rab Noakes.
